The Kawasaki rose (in all its various forms) is based off of a “grid system ” the prefolding steps are quite intensive and involve the creation of a “grid.” I didn’t know it at the time, but they were Kawasaki roses, named after their creator, Toshikazu Kawasaki. When I was in 8th grade, I went through a phase where I started folding origami roses. The goal is to learn more about what creates the form of origami because there are so many spin-offs of Kawasaki’s rose, creating many of them off of other people’s instructions can help me discover how each variation “works,” and possibly create my own. More specifically, I will focus on origami roses (and possibly other flowers), and variations of the Kawasaki rose in particular. ![]()
